I am the tiger’s eye, fierce and free,

But maybe I was fooling me.

My words scream freedom, actions whisper captivity,

I’m with those who lack curiosity.

I have a partner, a heavy weight,

He’s why I’m not straight.

True what they say about women’s fate,

In this, I’ve endured, didn’t abate.

For years, I’ve been this way,

Held back by fears, day by day.

One step at a time, cautious sway,

Another trap, in my way.

In my car, the usual fight,

A sudden light, changed my sight.

A quick moment, then a different flight,

Maybe, my last words, that night.
Ubuntu

What happened to ubuntu?
What happened to the times when a black man never wanted to see a black man suffer?
Kindness at its finest

Slavery never left
But ubuntu has
Now we are left with the mentality of every man for himself
Oh mother Africa what have your children become?
Is it fear or anger?

We choose to be blind
Slavery never left
Manipulated by our own people
Followers of the system
It’s time to be free
It’s time to fly

Free as a dove
Free like the air that cools you down
We say we’re free
Slavery never left
The door has been open
But we’re afraid to go in

What have they done to us?
Or what have we done to ourselves?
Why have we stopped caring ?
Give a black person math and he will fail
Give a black man a gun and he will shoot anyone in sight
Give a black man sex and he will make a whole nation
Oh mother Africa what have your children done ?

We are ashamed of who we are
Why are we scared?
Why can’t we move on?
Why are we selfish?
Slavery never left
Ubuntu is fading
Mother Africa what have your children done ?

Have you ever got to the point where you think God’s not real
Have you ever wished you could talk to them one last time or have 1 last meal
Have you ever wished you were not born
Have you ever wanted to end it all
Do you have times where it all goes wrong
Do you ever wonder why you’re not strong
Do you wish you were a child
Do you wish you had them back in your life
Do you wish to end it and call it a night
Have you ever wanted love so bad and went to places that just weren’t right
I wish I had all the answers but I’m just a human being
There are certain limits to what I can bring
I’m no good with motivation but change starts with you
It’s up to you to decide your next move
I’m grateful for the people who tolerate me as annoying as I am
I’m grateful for the City Point youth and them helping me be who I am
Life is not all fun and games
Life sometimes stings and it pains
But if you got God
Your journey will be worth it
Just wait and see

You don’t know what it’s like

You don’t know my life

You don’t know what we live for and how much we strive

You don’t know my teenage life

You don’t know how hard we work at night

You don’t know the battles we fight

You don’t know that we’re being emotionally abused at home

They are not there during our storm

But you ask why the sour face and why so cold

Oh you’re arrogant you don’t want to talk

But you don’t think we try

Every time we try open up you don’t take us serious and you make us cry

Now you got us thinking on how we want to die

It’s funny how parents think we have it easy and we have it nice

They don’t know what we go through every single night

They don’t know how it feels to be called stupid every single time

They dont know the tears we hold back every time you see us smile

They don’t know who we are and what we’re capable of

They don’t know our power and what we have

But we spend our lives being depressed

On what the government is doing and feeling oppressed

We as the youth have the power to be free and fly

We have the capability to bring joy

We are power houses and we have lots of Fight

Are you gonna do what’s right?

Or are you gonna continue living on earth with no light?
